Chashaku / Bamboo tea spoon was a utensil used to measure tea powder in the past. For the first few times, scoop up the tea powder to the point where the tea spoon bends up, and then use a kitchen scale (0.1 accuracy) to understand the actual weight. After doing it several times, you will begin to understand the relationship between scooping up tea powder and weight, so no longer need to measure the weight every time.

Chashaku is the traditional tool / measurement to scoping matcha out before tea making. For first few times with help of a scale, you may need to scoop a random amount but close to where scoop starts to bend , visualise the size, and match the weight the matcha includes. After the initial scoop-weight understanding, you may use the chashaku without the scale.
