Ceremonial Matcha

Ceremonial Matcha in broad terms means the matcha powder is designed for pure drinking. Cheaper powder tends to be stronger in bitterness. As price goes up, the bitterness fades away and be replaced with umami / sweetness, prolong aftertaste attached with other vibrant flavour characters.

Quick guide

  • For Usucha (thin tea with bubbles): All are all intended for a good bowl of thin tea. Aoarashi is great for beginners with subtle bitterness; Yugen is recommended for a dynamic flavour, while Wako carries a balanced flavour.
  • For Koicha (thick tea without bubbles): Unkaku does not carry strong astrigent flavour but a vibrant umami and aftertaste, while Kinrin has a strong astrigent flavour and aftertaste.
